This is a 2 x 60 minute programme about the evolution of the English building from monastic roots to suburban dwelling. Judith Jones tours the country in search of significant heritage buildings which shaped the peculiar architectural landscape of these isles. This clip sees her in Durham cathedral, where conquering Normans turned churches into fortresses of power.
